Final Magazine Front Cover

I tidied up a lot of the page to bring it to my final draft, using the rule of third to make the layout tight and neat and also to draw out the main image to really give a glare to the audience. Ive added more conventions such as the anchor texts and cover lines which i ensured stood out while fitting into the colour scheme of the magazine.

Just like the magazine 'FILM' I didn't want my magazine to be a horror genre film magazine, I wanted to keep a wide target audience by mentioning different films from different genres for different age groups. I wanted to show that my magazine develops and changes to show a new release film just as 'FILM' magazine do from issue to issue shown below.

Editing the picture more and positioning it differently has made a massive difference to my front cover as a whole, the audience will now be able to tell that this issue is to release the new horror film. By adding a grey background behind the image so text can be seen clearer than my last draft has helped my information stand out much more. Also i made the title and skyline much bolder all to ensure my audience are drawn in. I have taken a few things away from my last draft to re think and then upload in a more effective way in my next draft. 

Conventions identified in secondary research

After researching into film magazines especially horror issues I have picked up on many different conventions, which are typical on many magazines. These draw in target audiences, which promote new films in a particular genre. The conventions
(which can be seen within the two similar products below) are:

• ·      Other films information e.g. ‘upcoming comedy’
• ·      Gothic colours- reds, blacks, whites or other dark colours
• ·      Masthead
• ·      Cover lines
• ·      Main image- fitting in with gothic genre, emphasised or dominating the magazine, shadowed or with typical gothic conventions e.g. blood
• ·      Anchor text
• ·      Main title
• ·      Skyline/ Strapline
• ·      Barcode and price
• ·      Additional sources- websites
